Are you moving forward?

I recently went to Empower U again, a program that really rocks young people's lives, and like every other EU i really enjoyed it. Seeing friends change since meeting them from day 1 and becoming really confident to go out into the world to achieve their goals and dreams. Words just cannot discribe how they evolve through the short span of a weekend..

However today's observation is not about that. It was during this time when i was sleeping over when one of my close friends who was an assist at the program asked me one very interesting question. She said this: "Steve why are the curbs along the road black and white?" Always trying to give interesting answers i replied...

Oh because its too costly to paint the curbs pink and orange....

We chatted and laughed at the topic while we were in the car. Suddenly as i was looking at the curbs it occurred to me.... The distinctions of black and white are the strongest among all the colours. The black and white alternated themselves as the car cruised, and i suddenly realized apart from everything else, one of the reasons that it is black and white could be to show the driver that he or she is moving forward. Isn't it amazing? At first it seems really funny but it really taught me something, in life how do we know we are moving forward?

What are the black and whites that let us know that we are actually moving? See it this way, you'll be seeing both blacks and whites before you get to where you want to go. It'll never be totally glorious or totally dark. Its through small paces of different distinctions, ups and downs, black and whites that lets us know that we're moving forward. It is such an encouragement to know that its not always black because the white is just a few inches away... I'm quite sure that my black and whites are showing up pretty rapidly what about you? Are you moving forward?
